Cigar Review: La Aurora 107 Maduro

Good Morning, all!

Its a dreary 60 degrees and rainy here in east Tennessee, so I had to find somewhere to smoke. My search has led me to Chattanooga at Burn’s Tobacconist off of Jordan Drive, and you’ll never guess who I saw when I walked in the door. That’s right! The one and only @dmjones1009 (also known as David Jones).

I asked him what I should review, and he said, “well, I don’t know” followed by several different options. The final one he landed on though DEFINITELY caught my attention.

The La Aurora 107 has always been a favorite of mine, and I love a good maduro. So when he mentioned the maduro version of the 107, I was all over it. Here is the breakdown on the blend.

• Wrapper- Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro
• Binder- Equadorian Sumatra
• Filler- Dominican Corojo, Dominican Criollo ’98, Nicaraguan, and a few leafs from Pennsylvania

The size I chose is the Corona, cause that’s how I roll.

Pre-light

This is nearly perfect as far as feel and look. The nose on the foot is a strangely appealing chocolate and mulch combo. Cold draw yields an expected chocolate flavor with some spice.

First third

Very good start. This is awesome actually. Super smooth, very good earthy flavor with some sweet notes. Through the nose, it will light you up though, so retrohale with caution. Great start.

Second Third

Things have stayed fairly consistent at this point. The only change is that the spice has picked up in the back of my throat. Its calmed down through the nose though… weird. Still awesome though.

Final Third

There honestly isn’t too much development to this cigar. It doesn’t need it though. This is one of those cigars that

starts out awesome, and just keeps on keepin’ on. Just a really good cigar.

Conclusion

Run, don’t walk (or drive, to each their own) and buy as many of these as possible. At $7.00/ cigar (Burn’s Tobacconist pricing) this thing is WELL WORTH IT. I will be smoking many more of these.
