Cigar Review: Nestor Miranda Collection One Life Edition Danno 2015

Size: 7 x 56 (Danno)
Wrapper: Nicaragua Habano
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Price: $12.19 per stick at Two Guys Smoke Shop

Last week, I noticed in my humidor that my supply of the Exceptional Premium cigars was running low, so I went online to Two Guys Smoke Shop to rectify the problem. While learning (to my horror) that the Exceptional Premium has changed in both price and size, I also found the new releases of the Nestor Miranda Danno Series. Remembering that Barry Stein’s review of it hit my inbox a week and a half ago, I knew I had to check it out for myself.

No construction issues were found with the cigar before lighting. The pre-light flavor notes consisted of leather and something floral. Despite the small tail on the cap, I went with a punch on the cigar (that and my cutter is very dull and in need of replacing or sharpening). My first several draws from this cigar after lighting were a touch on the tight side but it opened up after 10 minutes into it. The opening flavors notes on the cigar were leather, mocha and a touch of sweetness. I was surprised that despite the habano wrapper, the start to this cigar was very mellow with just a hair above medium bodied in strength. The flavors and strength stayed as mentioned for just over an hour until a big hit of spice came into the flavor profile, accompanied by a slight increase in strength. By the last inch of the cigar, the strength was much closer to full bodied as the mocha flavors came out to finish out the rest of the cigar. Total smoking time was 1:50.

Besides one relight of the cigar because I had to put my son back to bed (he came down to check on me…at 11:30PM), I had zero issues with the cigar.

By-The-Numbers
Prelight: 2/2
Construction: 2/2
Flavor: 5/5
Value: 0.5/1
Total: 9.5/10

To recap the Nestor Miranda Collection One Life Edition Danno 2015:

  • The complexity of flavors coupled with the growing medium bodied to almost full bodied makes this a great cigar to smoke. This cigar takes about two hours to smoke, so take the time to enjoy it properly (don’t rush it).
  • While I think all levels of cigar smoker would enjoy this, my gut says this cigar would be more appreciated by cigar veterans than new smokers.
  • The only knock for this cigar is the price and it is a small one. If the price was $2-3 dollars cheaper, this review would be a Perfect 10. Because of the $12 price range, this cigar becomes a nice treat for myself once in awhile.
  • This is a definite must-try cigar and would encourage you to check it out should you see it in your local B&M. I will be checking out the remaining blends in the future, either for review or for my own pleasure.

As always, thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.

This cigar is definitely in my wheelhouse, price point though means I will “use sparingly”….
