Background

Today will be my fifth installment on these new blends from Regius.  The four previous can be found here, here, here and here.  Unfortunately there still isn’t any information about these cigars out there as of yet.  Again I’m guessing Nicaraguan filler and binder.  The corojo wrapper would be coming from Nicaragua or Honduras I’m guessing.  This was the first one of these I smoked.

Prelight

As with the other examples, the wrapper type is clearly labeled on the bottom band.  The wrapper on the cigar is a rust brown in color.  There looks to be some oils and tooth to the wrapper, but in handling it my fingers felt somewhat slick from the oils in the wrapper.  When I gave it a squeeze there was some give but no soft spots.  Putting my nose to the wrapper I noted the aroma of wood with leather coming from the foot.  After clipping it and taking a cold draw I got some woody notes with a good draw.

Flavor

It starts off with flavors of wood and leather with a sweet finish.  After a few puffs I started to get some spice on the tongue and retrohale.  After a few more I started to get some cinnamon flavors from it as well.  It starts off at the upper end of medium strength.  As I moved into the second third the spice toned down a but but didn’t disappear.  The flavors were pretty similar to the first third; leather, wood, and cinnamon with a sweet finish.   The cigar stayed medium strength as well.  In the final third the flavors didn’t really change.  The spice and strength built as I finished off the cigar.  The cigar increased to medium-full strength by the end.

Construction

The draw and burn were pretty good and didn’t need any help.

Value

As with the others I feel that it is reasonably priced.

Conclusions

While not the most complex cigar out there I definitely enjoyed it.  If you’d like to try it for yourself, head on over to our sponsor SmallBatchCigar.com.
