I decided that for my next couple cigar reviews that I would visit a local B&M near my home (a car wash which houses a fantastic walk-in humidor) and find cigars that I was completely unfamilar with. The hope in doing this was to broaden my cigar horizons away from brands that I know and to find a diamond in the rough. The Tabaco Ramones, made by Camacho, is the first in this group.

Giving the Tabaco Ramones a look-over pre-light, I detected some subtle sweet notes but nothing that I could really put a finger on. I did come across a minor chip in the wrapper but it did not affect the burn of the cigar in any way. I opted again for a punch and wooden match and took my first couple draws on the cigar, which I will say was almost too open a draw. I noticed the sweet notes in the first few draws but again couldn’t place the exact flavor. The next flavor profile I came across in this cigar came about five to ten minutes in. The best way I could describe it is soggy grass clippings, which is to say it wasn’t very good at all. It was almost enough for me to put down the cigar but I did manage to push along.

The cigar did get better once I hit the halfway point, where I found a touch of very dull pepper and spice. It stayed on that flavor point until the end of the cigar, which was about an hour of smoking time. I had no issues at all with the burn of the cigar. I would classify the strength of this cigar as mild to medium, leaning more on the mild side, accompanied with a short flavor finish on the palette.

To recap the Tabaco Ramones:

  • A mild to medium cigar in a Nub-style size that improves a bit after some smoking time.
  • The price point for this cigar is honestly a bit high for what you are getting for this cigar (joys of IL tobacco taxes).
  • I suppose this cigar would suffice for friends/guests who would like a cigar but know absolutely nothing about them but you can get better bundle cigars for less.
  • This is one cigar I will not be smoking again.

As always, thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.
