Thoughts from the smoking chair

It’s actually a smoking love seat…but whatever.

Keith’s article from a couple months ago inspired me to write something in a similar vein. Much has been going on personally and I figured this would be a nice way to get my thoughts out there.

So we have this election coming up. I could probably rant about the full-on corruption within all aspects of our government, but I think I will spare you all. I have serious doubts that this country, from the standpoint of debt, government cronyism and corruption and moral depravity, can be saved at this point. However, one candidate I think actually gives a crap about what the normal everyday people in this country (us) care about and the other candidate wants to continue on with the last eight years. I’m not trying to talk anyone into voting for one or the other, but I know who I am voting for. Should you decide to vote, just remember that it’s “We the People” and not “We the Government” for a reason.

On the personal side, my family and I lost our oldest dog Justice two weeks ago (above). This was the first time in my adult life that I have had to experience the loss of a family pet and had to make the call for euthanization. Pets can teach us much about ourselves and Justice did exactly that for me. 10 years went by way too fast. Should any of you be pet owners out there, give some extra love to them today. And you probably noticed the diaper-clad troublemaker next to her. That big guy turned one year old just last week.

Switching gears to more cigar-related topics, I was blown away by my most recent review and look forward to when I can buy a few more. Another favorite brand of mine, Crux Cigars, are now available at my favorite B&M in the area, giving me more reasons to make my bank account a little bit lighter. I did pick up a couple of value bundles with varying results. The Dark Shark, which I have reviewed in the past, smokes great in a Robusto size. However, the Nicaraguan 90-rated 2nds are not nearly as tasty. Maybe they need a couple months in the humidor to even out? Finally, expect a review next week of a discontinued Rocky Patel deal I caught from Smoke Inn. Turns out to be an great smoke for the price.

Thank you for letting me write my mind this week.

Sorry about your loss, we had to put our first dog down a few years ago and it ripped me apart. Remember the good times.
