David Jones
I have been enjoying premium cigars since 2001 and have been writing about them since about 2009. I will try almost any cigar once and have a habit of returning to styles that haven’t impressed me much in the past just to see if someone else’s blends can do the trick. I am constantly curious about new blends hitting the market. I’ve been on cigar-company-sponsored factory trips to the Dominican Republic (La Aurora and General Cigar) and Nicaragua (Drew Estate); each time I was able to absorb a wealth of knowledge from those I met.
I founded Tiki Bar Online as something other than a cigar blog, but it evolved into very much a cigar-oriented site, so it eventually become Leaf Enthusiast.
I’ve lived in the Chattanooga area for over 16 years and my “home shop” is Burns Tobacconist, where I worked for several years.

Mission Statement
I am a “leaf enthusiast,” always hungry to try new cigar or pipe tobacco blends or rediscover some that have been forgotten…and then sharing my recommendations with you.
Review Style
The current review style can be described as “loose.” I will give some information on the background and makeup of a cigar or libation if I can, then give some sensory notes on the experience before letting you know…would I pay to have this experience again?
Older reviews on this site were scored and I will leave those reviews intact as they did have value at the time. Scores were given based on either one or multiple samples smoked, but always unaccompanied by any libation except water and with all other factors as controlled as possible.
News
This is NOT a cigar news outlet. There are many better places for that and I don’t feel the need to add another. This is all about opinions…mine!
I own my opinions and try to have a factual basis for them…or at least be educated on a subject. I’ll pass on relevant information on facts and education when I feel it’s needed.
