Accessory Review: Jelly BeadZ Cigar Humidor BeadZ

About four weeks ago, I opened my humidor to find that the nylon bag holding my humidification beads contained a touch of mold. Realizing that I was around six months past the best-use date on the beads, I started to place an order where I would normally get my beads. Before I completed the transaction however, I decided for better or worse to dig around to see if I could find a slightly cheaper deal. As luck would have it, I found the JellyBeadZ brand of cigar humidification beads.

This was the first time that it even dawned on me to search on Amazon for this kind of product. With the reviews being as high as they were and the price being less than half for what I would have normally paid from my previous supplier, I figured it was worth a shot. After a couple of days wait, they arrived without a hitch. Digging around on their website and reading reviews on Amazon, I wasn’t able to find a formula or method that could be used to figure out the amount of beads needed. For my 300 count Diablo, I ‘guesstimated’ around four teaspoons of beads. Putting them into a small pyrex bowl and pouring around 1/4 to 1/3 of the bowl with distilled water (enough to submerge all beads), I let it sit for a few hours. It didn’t take to watch those little beads grow into something much bigger.

Since those three and a half weeks or so, I can conclude that they hold humidification quite well. I think my initial hydration, I likely put in a little bit too much water, as I felt that the cigars were a touch spongy and more humid than what I was normally used to. In my house with my humidor, it takes between seven and nine days before I begin to see the beads begin to shrink. That’s the time where I re-hydrate; each time I have done so, I have used less water than initially used above. As for how long they will last, time will tell. I get the feeling that I am not going to need to purchase humidification beads for a very long time.

All in all, I am very pleased with the Jelly BeadZ Cigar Humidor BeadZ and would recommend they be checked out. Thank you all for reading and have a good weekend.
