I almost want to paraphrase Glenn Frey from the Eagles reunion show…for the record, I never quit blogging, I just took a 3 year vacation! I did think strongly a couple time about just deleting the site forever, but something told me I might want to get it back. Plus, I had put in over a decade of hard work!
Last year about this time I had a conversation with a friend who encouraged me to take up writing about cigars again…but just don’t take it so seriously that it becomes a job again. So on May 25, 2024, I wrote the first version of this article…and a review…and followed it up with a bunch more reviews while I contemplated the redesign of the site, got married, worked hard, went on vacations, and just dealt with this thing we call “life.” I finally got a new logo designed and a clear direction for how I want the reborn Leaf Enthusiast site to look in early May and figured I should re-write this article, too.
This time around, I won’t be doing scored reviews. I won’t be doing a ton of research and I’ll rarely be smoking multiple samples for a review. I’m going to be including a lot more whiskey reviews, but even those aren’t going to be as in-depth or detailed as what I did in the past. Let’s be honest…few people except other bloggers want to read super-long, detailed reviews of cigars. I’ll tell you a little about the cigar, give you some honest thoughts about it, then get out of the way.
I currently have about 50 reviews I’ve written over the past year and a bunch of cigars and whiskies in the house that need to be reviewed. Some of the material you see may end up being a little dated and some cigars may be unavailable…especially because I’m probably not going to post everything in the order I wrote it.
