Background

The perfecto shape with “cinnamon roll” pigtail of SnS 2019 is something familiar to fans of the Tatuaje Anarchy series, a “microbatch” exclusive of Smoke Inn down in Florida. The original Tatuaje Anarchy came out in 2010, with the Apocalypse follow-up 2 years later. Now a full decade later, the Anarchy Kaos has been released…just in time for the end of the world, it would seem. Is this SnS cigar the same as the Kaos? Most assuredly not, for a couple reasons…

Anarchy Kaos does use the same type of pigtail, but it is a parejo shaped cigar at 6.25 x 49…basically a short Churchill. This SnS 2019 #3 follows the original Anarchy format of being a perfecto with a short diadema or salomon shape. What it could be is the Kaos blend in a different format…or it could be something totally different. There’s really no way to know unless Pete Johnson says…and he rarely does, at least in public.

Notes

I smoked this last SnS 2019 offering while driving down to Chattanooga on a Saturday morning, and I did not pair it with anything, for the first time in this series. The wrapper was medium-brown that had notes of earth, cedar, and hay when sniffed. I clipped and the test draw was very good, displaying a slight sweet grassiness, some cedar, and a touch of that classic Nicaraguan chocolate.

The draw was a little tight at first, which is fairly normal for perfectos. It started with tons of cedar, along with black and cayenne pepper on the palate and red pepper flake on the nose. I also got some wood and roasted peanuts on the retrohale. I found it medium-plus in body with cedar and a background of floral notes as the first third burned along.

As the cigar progressed, I got more sweetness as the spiciness toned down. Cedar and floral notes continued to be high in the mix, while the pepper morphed into more of a cinnamon note. Turns out, I may have saved the best for last…although not intentionally.

That’s all for this year’s SnS member pack series. I didn’t mean to finish it up with what seems like the world falling apart around us, but…I guess you never plan that kind of thing. Stay safe, my friends…and continue to smoke ‘em if you got ‘em.
