The Escurio isn’t the only Davidoff product celebrating 10 years in production in 2025. Their Avo brand has been producing the Syncro Nicaragua for a decade. I remember when it was introduced as a revolutionary cigar…the first from the brand that featured Nicaraguan tobacco in the blend. They released a box-pressed Diadema that features an Ecuadorian wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. It’s said that it’s not the exact same blend as the regular production cigar.
The cigar does look handsome in its box-pressed special shape and had a nice earthy aroma to it. The cold draw was easy enough and featured earth and hay, along with a subtle sweetness and a tiny bit of lingering pepper spice on the lips.
The smoke itself seemed to be a little spicier than the standard Syncro Nicaragua, but overall this blend tastes very similar to it. That to me is the problem with this release…it’s about $10 per stick more than the other sizes, while bringing nothing significantly different to the table. Not that it’s bad…it’s not…it’s actually a really good cigar…but I could buy the standard Toro size, save some money, and be just as happy with the smoking experience. I had hoped for more.
