Septimo Emperor Alexander

Cigar Review: Septimo Emperor Alexander

I don’t know exactly when I heard of El Septimo Cigars, but I heard about the fact that they were very expensive. I tried one in the $30 range and found it…not to my liking and pretty much gave up on wanting to buy any of their $50 or $70 sticks. Then a friend told me about a milder blend that was in the mid-$20s for a perfecto. I tried it and liked it, so when I heard that their Emperor Series was similar for $10 less, I tried the Alexander…and I liked it.

This morning, I paired this cigar of unknown origin (made in Costa Rica, but no country origins for the tobacco leaves) with a Coke Zero…it was a warm and balmy one. The Septimo Emperor Alexander started off hard to light, but once I got it going, I found it full of bread and baker’s spice notes, along with black pepper on the nose.

It was mild-plus in body and made for a very nice “first cigar of the day”…no matter when that cigar happens to be. I’ve already made this cigar a semi-regular part of my rotation and it has made me want to give other Septimo blends another shot.
