2015 Cigar of the Year – Keith1911 Edition

As Dave mentioned, I don’t know where this year has gone.  Even though I haven’t experienced any where near the amount of change Dave has it has been busy mainly with family and work.

I choose my top cigars of the year very similarly to Dave, except it is very rare for me to give out a 10.  It’s difficult for me to award a perfect score on anything that doesn’t just blow my mind.  And there was only one cigar that did that for me this year.  The rest of the list all scored 9.5.  I’m going to agree with Dave in that this year there didn’t seem to be as many stand out cigars coming out as in years past.

#5: Davidoff Escurio

I was just talking to a guy at the cigar shop this weekend about this cigar and how he thought it was a miss for them.  For me it is great to see them really branching out and trying to get a different type of smoker than they’ve used to.

#4: Winston Churchill by Davidoff

I definitely wasn’t a fan of the original release under this name but was very pleasantly surprised at the re-blend.  The re-blend is much more flavorful and isn’t priced as high as a normal Davidoff.

#3: Avo Synchro

Ok guys, I promise I haven’t turned into some sort of snooty cigar smoker.  Of the cigars I reviewed this year Davidoff made up the bulk of the top finishers.  This cigar was another bold blend for both Davidoff and Avo.

#2: Roma Craft Tobac CroMagnon Fomorian

While this cigar wasn’t really new this year, it was the first year I got to try the annual release.  And it is definitely not your normal candela.

#1: Padron Family Reserve 50 Years Maduro

It’s no secret I like this cigar.  It reminds me a lot of some previous year’s family reserve blend.  I did get a chance to smoke one of the humidor cigars, and would probably still rate the family reserve higher because of it’s lower price.

So that’s my list of my cigars of the year.  Let me know in the comments what you think of it, whether you agree or think I’m nuts.

Thank you to all of our readers out there making it a great year for Leaf Enthusiast!

Nice list! I will be seeking out the AVO Syncro now that I’ve seen it on several lists. I am also a huge fan of the new Winston and am glad to see it on there. I’ll have to revisit the Escurio. No need to apologize for having Davidoffs there; those are well-made, meticulously blended smokes. How do you rate the Nicaragua?
The Neanderthal is awesome, and who can say no to a Padron?

I wasn’t a big fan of the New Winston Churchill, I’ve got a couple more but I think I’ve deemed them a smoke for celebration when I can’t really sit back and enjoy the cigar kind of time.
