Cigar Review: L’Atelier Travailleurs

Background

Living in Southern California, not being able to smoke at work, at not smoking in my truck, this isn’t a size I normally smoke a lot of.  However there are the occasions when I only have time for a short smoke.  I took a look at the Cracker Crumbs, and Dave took at look at the Travailleurs.  Today I’ll be taking a look at the Travailleurs as well.  This was the first one of these I had.

Prelight

The wrapper on this cigar was a nice golden brown in color with some oils and light tooth.  There weren’t many veins to it either.  I now think that them being pre-cut will make them easier to light on the go.  When I gave it a squeeze it was fairly firm and without any soft spots.  I noted some hay and leather from wrapper and some barnyard from the foot.  The cold draw was good with the flavors of peanut and sugar.

Flavor

The cigar starts off with the flavors of spice, leather, green herbs, and earth to start with a hint of sweetness on the finish.  The cigar starts off in the medium range.  The flavors changed slightly to wood, cream and leather with a bit of red pepper spice, cinnamon and sweetness, in the second third.  The cigar didn’t move out of the medium range during the second third.  In the final third I got pretty much the same flavors as the second third and the strength built just a bit.

Construction

At the beginning the draw was a little tighter than I like.  However it opened up by the middle the first third.  The burn line didn’t have any problems at all.

Value

$3 for a this cigar seems just about the perfect price for this cigar.

Conclusions

I think I enjoyed the flavor of this cigar a bit more than the Cracker Crumbs.  I would definitely light one of these up if I had only a short window, and wouldn’t feel too bad if I had to put it down before I was through.

Can you deduct points for an ugly band?

Yeah the bands for this line are very simple. But they do let you know what it is.

This sounds like a perfect winter time smoke for me here in the Pa. I will have to look into one of these. Everything else i have had from Latelier has been very solid.

This cigar also sounds like a great cigar, but right now I will have to pass on this one, out of my price range. Good review as always.
