For April Fool’s Day, I thought I would do something different. Since I can’t recall from recent memory I have ever done an April Fool’s review, I figured I would pay the part of the fool: Review a cigar that I know none of us would ever smoke, barring some sort of apocalyptic scenario where the world runs out of premium cigars. Since this day is likely going to be filled with all sorts of nonsense on social media, I might as well give you something to laugh about that is real.

There was a chip in the lone cigarillo I used for testing that most of the way around the foot of the cigar. No other problems with the cigarillo were found. The predominant pre-light aroma is blueberry (I’m sure you are all surprised by this). The cold draw really only gave me more blueberry flavors from the wrapper. I will say that the draw on this was really open. At least it made the process go faster…Besides the continuous flavor of blueberry, there was a slight taste of really dull pepper that went across the front of the tongue.

I would love to say more nice things about this, but I can’t. The flavors are one dimensional and by the time you start getting down to the last half inch or so, the cigarillo gets incredibly bitter. Total smoking time is 17 minutes.

By-The-Numbers
Prelight: 1.5/2
Construction: 2/2
Flavor: 1/5
Value: 0.5/1
Total: 5/10

To recap the Swisher Sweets Blueberry Cigarillo:

  • If the world is ending and you had a choice between sticks and leaves or these, the Swisher Sweets Blueberry Cigarillo would do.
  • These are dirt cheap but seriously, barring the Apocalypse, spend an extra dollar or two and get a decent flavored cigar or a higher quality cigarillo.
  • I think it is safe to say that these won’t be purchased again.

As I finish typing this, I’m headed downstairs to smoke a real cigar, just to get the taste of blueberry out of my mouth. Thank you very much for reading and I look forward to the next time I can share my thoughts with you.

I was actually trying to be fair, even though I generally knew what the outcome was going to be. It at least didn’t fall apart on me, so I guess that counted for something…
