Top 10 Cigars of the Year – Keith’s Picks

PrintIt is that time of year again, when most of the cigar press, print and Internet, compiles a list of their favorite cigars of the year.  While mine isn’t as flashy as most, here is my humble list.  My only requirement for them to be included in this list is I had to review them this year.  Let me know what you think in the comments.

Number 10

Punch Rare Corojo:  I seem to forget about this cigar from time to time, but when I do remember it is always a flavorful cigar at a reasonable price.

Number 9:

Davidoff Royal Robusto:  This is one of the rarer ones from Davidoff.  However much I like it, the price point isn’t going to make it regular rotation item for me.

Number 8:

Drew Estate Nica Rustica:  This cigar has become a regular in my humidor.  While not the most complex, and it does have spotty construction, I enjoy it’s flavor a lot.

Number 7:

The Crowned Heads Jericho Hill:  Since I’m a big Johnny Cash fan I had to try this cigar.  I was not disappointed.

Number 6:

My Father Cigars Connecticut:  While I’m not the biggest fan of Connecticut Shade this cigar really impressed me.

Number 5:

RoMa Craft Tobac CRAFT 2013 La Campaña de Panamá Soberana:  Yeah, I know this cigar came out last year.  I didn’t get to review or smoke it until this year though.  A very interesting cigar.

Number 4:

Tatuaje Gran Maravilla:  One of those cigars that I have to bury in my coolidor so I forget I have it so I can save some for aging.

Number 3:

La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II:  If this is any preview of the next generation of cigars released by LFD, we’re all going to be in for a treat.

Number 2:

Padron Family Reserve 50 Years Maduro:  This cigar is one of the few cigars that I want to light up another one as soon as I’m done.  It’s price and rarity makes sure that doesn’t happen.

And the moment you’ve all been waiting for, my Number 1 Cigar of the Year:

The Crowned Heads Tennessee Waltz

It was really difficult for me to pick the top cigar this year.  The top three cigars all had it at one point as I immensely enjoyed all three.  What put the TN Waltz over the top was it’s price and availability.  I can get this cigar any time at a very reasonable price.  Great job to all of the people over at The Crowned Heads!

Thank you all for being loyal readers of this humble blog.  I hope that all of you have a happy and safe Christmas and New Years wherever you are.

Well I am impressed, I have only managed to smoke one of your Top 10 cigars and happen to be with you when I did….woohoo to the Nica Rustica. I do have the Capitulo II in my humidor to enjoy this trip home and I will be on the look out for the new Padron. Great list and I hope to try them all sooner rather than later.

Well Keith Merry Christmas and Happy new year to you and yours. I can’t really argue with one single pick I have had most of these sticks, and the fact that 2 Crowned Heads sticks are on this list is an example of how good their company is. Great list. buddy

Great list! I could argue with one, but of course taste and experience is only seen by the beholder.
