Kralot

Cigar Review: JSK Kralot

Along with my “regular” JSK Toothpick and Tyrannical Buc shipments, I branched out to try some of the other Jas Sum Kral offerings, including Kralot. The site that sells these describes them as a 7 x 50 Robusto Extra…although to me that size is much more Churchill-esque. The blend uses Nicaraguan fillers, dual Nicaraguan binders, and a Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf.

The wrapper had a decent amount of oiliness covering over the raspier toothiness of the leaf, while the aroma from it was a mix of dark earth, anise, and espresso beans. The foot of the stick was just really earthy. Once I clipped the head, I got a decent cold draw that had an almost minty “cooling” effect, with hints of chocolate.

Firing up the Kralot, its very full body made itself known right from the first. The smoke had notes of earth, unsweetened cocoa, coffee beans, and black pepper. Essentially, what you would expect a full-bodied Nicaraguan blend to taste like! Honestly, I think if you took the band off and told people this was another famous Nicaraguan company’s mid-line blend, I think they would probably believe you. Factor in that the cigar I’m talking about would likely run about $20-25 in a similar size and you’ll feel very happy about spending $5 on these.
