The next Jas Sum Kral blend getting the spotlight is the Red Knight. This is a medium-bodied blend that features “undisclosed” fillers, dual binders from Mexico and Jalapa, and an Ecuadorian Habano Light Claro wrapper leaf. It is meant to fall in line with the Crna Noc, Zlatno Sonce, and Kralot as the “premium” lineup in the JSK portfolio.
The Red Knight has an oily wrapper that is a medium-brown with lots of reds in it. It had an earthy aroma with hints of cedar and grass. I got more earth on the foot, mixed with sweeter notes of chocolate. When I clipped the head, I did break the wrapper a bit, but it seems like it would remain smokeable, at least enough to render an opinion. The cold draw had cinnamon and a bread note, which was really nice.
Once lit, the Red Knight delivered a nice medium bodied smoke with notes of bread, grass, and light earth. There was some evidence of baking spice, although not so much the pepper spice, even on the retrohale. Further on there was a little sweetness and a slight chocolate note. I did like this cigar, but I didn’t find that I loved it…your mileage may vary.
