SnS 2025

Cigar Review: SnS 2025 #2

It seems like the folks at Tatuaje wanted to hit the Saints & Sinners Club with multiple lighter wrapper options this year…4 of the 5 seem to be significantly lighter than what I would call “Maduro.” The second one in the pack this year is a torpedo shape, about 6 inches long and about 50 or 52 ring gauge. The wrapper was too dark to really consider Connecticut Shade as my guess, and had just a touch of a reddish Colorado hue in places. Feeling the oiliness of the leaf and smelling the woodiness of it, I was most tempted to say it’s probably Corojo, but I could be wrong. The partially closed foot had a stronger earthy aroma with hints of chocolate and coffee.

I had to clip it twice to get a good draw, something I’ve found frequently with torpedo tipped cigars. When I did, the flavor was of cedar, hay, and a light spice. Fired up, the cigar was lighter…milder, really…than I had anticipated. It had floral and wood notes predominantly, with just a little sweetness on the finish and a very delicate spiciness. Even on the retrohale, I got more cedar than pepper spice.

There’s something about this blend that just seemed a little “off” when it comes to Tatuaje blends and if we hadn’t recently had an announcement of sorts, it probably would complete elude me. But I find myself wondering if this blend uses Honduran tobacco, as My Father does have a Honduras factory now and Tatuaje will soon start selling cigars that come from there. It’s not a bad cigar, mind you, but I’m just feeling like the flavor is different enough from what I’m used to from Tatuaje that it being Honduran leaf explains it.

I paired this cigar with some RD1 Bourbon finished in Amburana wood, which brings a whole new level of sweetness—and Cinnamon!!!—to the party. If I felt like the cigar needed some help, this bourbon definitely changes things up.
