Tatuaje Halloween Corojo

Cigar Review: Tatuaje Halloween Corojo

Halloween arrived this year with me nursing a pretty bad head cold…bad enough that I actually took a day off of my daily cigar and spent quite a bit of extra time this week trying to sleep…and it was Game 6 of the World Series with my beloved Dodgers facing elimination against the Toronto Blue Jays. Would they last another day? What would I smoke?

In the 2025 Saints & Sinners Member Kit, there were a pair of Tatuaje Halloween cigars, a line that originally started as a Broadleaf Maduro-wrapped blend, before expanding to add a Sumatra version…and now Corojo and Tuxtla versions. I already knew that the Tat Corojo lines were not my favorites, so I elected to go with that one.

For having a head cold, it’s surprising how much the Corojo wrapped stick came through in the flavor department. I got the sweet grassy and hay notes that I had gotten on other Corojo Tatuajes, plus some additional pepper spice that wasn’t on those other cigars. Could be that whatever tweaks this blend has make up for the moderate-ness of the wrapper by adding some extra interest. It was very spicy indeed when I retrohaled.

I paired it with some Willett Pot Still, their iconic small-batch wheated bourbon…something I hadn’t bought a bottle of for many years, but I was reminded how much I like it when we had our recent tasting at the Willett Distillery. It featured a little wheat “funk” on the nose, along with oak and vanilla. The sip brought through a nice, smooth sweetness with just a touch of spice…not something I would expect much of with a 94 proof. This would be the “pre game” combo…and then come game time, I might either just go inside to watch or I might opt to stay outside and smoke another. Go Dodgers!
