Thoughts from the Smoking Chair – 05/31/2019

It’s honestly hard to believe that June is just a day away. This year has flown by. My wife and kids are finished (or finishing up) with school this week. My summer music schedule kicks off next week with a fantastic music festival down south. With all that going on, I just didn’t have time for a formal review this week. But I have been checking out some different cigars…

What’s hanging around the humidor

Besides the new Villiger and Crux Cigars reviewed recently, I’ve been trying some different bundle blends. Matt Boot with Room 101 Cigars released some new bundle blends which I checked out awhile back. I enjoyed the Maduro far more than the Connecticut but to be honest, neither of these bundles will likely not make it back to my humidor anytime soon. Last week, I got in a wheel of 50 cigars from Two Guys Smoke Shop. They won’t win any awards but they’ll do the job when a cigar is needed. And at the cost paid, it’s not a bad deal.

I got a couple cigars coming down the pike for review. Expect to see reviews in the next few weeks representing Don Pepin Garcia, Punch and Southern Draw among others.

Libations

I think our in-house rum streak has finalized for now. With school out, my wife has been enjoying a glass (or several) of various red wine blends while I have been working down the remaining whiskey reserves (Gentlemen Jack and Laphroaig Lore). I’ll be finding something new on the whiskey side to review sometime soon.

NFL Pick’em Contest…and maybe more

For you NFL fans out there, the season is a few months away. As soon as the Pick’em Leagues open up, I’ll be getting that going once again. More on that when it is up. I’m also toying with the idea of running a second contest on FanDuel for the daily players out there. If there is any interest in this, hit me up in the comments or via email (jon at leafenthusiast dot com).

That is all I have for this week. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with everyone again soon.
