Rojas Street Tacos Al Pastor

The second of three reviews on the Rojas Street Tacos line brings us to Al Pastor, a Mexican dish consisting of marinated pork cooked on a vertical spit, inspired by Lebanese immigrants who brought shawarma cooking methods to Mexico. This cigar consists of fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, a Mexican San Andres binder, and an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper.

The wrapper had a nice medium-dark brown color, close to milk chocolate. It had some oils in my fingers and a deeply earthy aroma. The foot of the cigar had aromas of hay and bread, earth and cedar. The prelight draw was easy and had a flavor that was almost minty.

When I lit up the Street Tacos Al Pastor, I was a little surprised. It honestly just didn’t taste like much. It wasn’t bad…it wasn’t great…it was just kind of there. It smoked on the milder side of medium, which was also surprising considering the blend makeup. After four or five puffs, I finally started to get something…a light cedar, a touch of sweetness, and a lingering white pepper on the palate along with a punchier pepper on the retrohale. Still, this was probably the least interesting cigar I’ve had from Rojas…your mileage may vary.
