In late 2025, Tatuaje Cigars released the Sextooth line, a collaboration of sorts with Andreas Contogouris, a musician, poet, producer, and actor, as well as being a longtime friend of Tatuaje owner Pete Johnson. With all the price increases across the cigar industry, they saw the need to put out a more budget-friendly cigar line and the Tatuaje Sextooth was born. As is common with Tatuaje blends, the filler and binder are all Nicaraguan; this time he used an Ecuadorian Habano for the wrapper leaf.
The wrapper leaf was a medium brown color with a nice bit of oiliness to it, and a strong earthy aroma. The foot had earth and cedar, along with just a touch of hay. The cold draw had a nice mix of hay, floral, cedar, and earthy notes. When lit the Tatuaje Sextooth had plenty of earth and cedar notes, although I felt like it could use a bit of sweetness to balance it out. The finish proved to have a long-lasting black pepper burn on my palate.
Despite the lack of some balancing sweetness, I found myself really enjoying the Tatuaje Sextooth by about the time I got done with the first third. It was earthy and spicy, with the pepper building upon itself as it went. I ended up adding sweetness in the form of a high proof bourbon that went along with it quite nicely. I’ll definitely have to check into the other sizes of this release.
