Background

Like Dave I was sent some samples of this cigar from La Aurora, so I’d like to thank them for the chance to try this cigar.  Dave did a good write up of info on this cigar here.  I agree with Dave’s assessment that they probably should have dropped the 107 from the name.  Maybe they had a bunch of extra bands laying around.

Prelight

The wrapper was a medium brown in color with a slightly reddish tint.  It also exhibited a good amount of oils and some light tooth.  The secondary band under the main band works really well even to the point you think it might be one band.  When I gave it a squeeze there was a slight amount of give without any soft spots.  Putting my nose to the wrapper I got the aroma of leather and curry with barnyard from the foot.  After clipping it and taking a cold draw on it I got a good draw with some hints of wood.

Flavor

The cigar starts off with a good amount of spice on the tongue and retrohale.  A few puffs into it I started to get some wood and leather flavors with a slight amount of creaminess.  Towards the end of the first third I also noted some green herbal flavors as well.  It starts off medium strength.  Moving into the second third saw the spice mellow out a bit but not go completely away.  The flavors in the second third were similar to the first, wood, leather, earth with a slightly sweet finish.  The cigar stayed medium strength as well.  Once I got into the second third the strength built up a bit.  The flavors didn’t really change though.

Construction

I didn’t have any draw or burn problems like Dave had.  The draw was pretty much perfect and the burn was only slightly wavy at times.

Value

I don’t think $10 is too much for a cigar with some 10 year aged tobacco in it.

Conclusions

While this wasn’t the most complex cigar, it was very enjoyable.  It might just be too strong for the sensitive to nicotine.  I would give it a try if you come across it though.
