Thoughts From The Smoking Chair – 12/18/20

2020 is almost over and I’m sure I’m not the only one thankful for that. The temperatures here in the Midwest have dropped to uncomfortable levels at night, so the number of cigars smoked recently has gone down. With the year ending, the customary end-of-year favorites articles is coming soon. I’ll have my favorites of 2020 articles posted either the Saturday or Sunday after Christmas.

What’s hanging around the humidor

A couple weeks ago, while the nighttime temperatures were still in the high 30s to low-to-mid 40s, I found a sale on Padilla boxes, specifically the Fumas Habano and Maduro. Both solid, enjoyable daily smokes that are perfect for a quick smoke. Locally, I found that car wash / cigar shop had a number of the Drew Estate Factory Smokes at dirt cheap prices, perfect for putting some extra inventory in the humidor. I purchased a few other things from there that’ll be reviewing early in 2021.

What is being poured

I haven’t indulged much in terms of adult beverages at home, at least in the past few weeks. When I have, it has been the Seven Fathoms rum that was reviewed at the beginning of the month. When I have been out after a music rehearsal, the place we have been visiting has had Monkey Shoulder on tap as well as a few choice wheat beers.

NFL Pick’em 2020

2020 turned out to be one of the most challenging years for Pick’em leagues. Conventional wisdom throughout the season has seemingly been thrown out the window at times. I can be glad that I don’t wager any money on Pick’em Leagues. Traditional fantasy leagues is another story… Still, someone is going to win this in a few weeks. As of right now, Big Daddy Wins! has a four game lead going into this weekend (Week 15). We’ll see what happens.

That’s all for this week. Stay safe, warm out there and have a Merry Christmas.
