Thoughts from the Smoking Chair – 08/23/2019

The year keep trucking on by. School is back in session for my family and everyone is settling into their schedules. I’ve had some fantastic music gigs the last few months, including four nights of performing at the Graceland Soundstage for the Ultimate Elvis Competition (with the backup band…not a competitor). While there hasn’t been a ton of time to sit down for review the last few weeks, I have had a bit of time to enjoy some various cigars.

What’s hanging around the humidor

After picking a few up at one of our local B&Ms, my wife made an off-hand comment about the desire to have a few more Nubs for the humidor…at which I picked up a mega-sampler at CI. And while there, I also found a deal on a bundle of Cuba Libres which have turned out to be a pretty good value (she’s also a fan – and you might see them reviewed later on this year). I was even lucky enough while visition a local Total Wine to find a few Nat Sherman Timeless (Nicaraguan), one cigar I have not seen in quite awhile. Other cigars have arrived recently that will be up for future review on the site, including the recently reviewed BOTL from Drew Estates and a few offerings from Cubariqueno Cigars. Expect the first of a couple reviews from Cubariqueno Cigars to come next week Friday.

Libations

I haven’t had a ton of variety when liquid libations are concerned. While in Memphis a few weeks ago, I wanted to enjoy something other than beer after we finished up that evening. I eventually found a liquor store not far from where we were staying that had a respectable selection and after some price checking, found a bottle of the Caskmates Stout Edition at a far cost. A recent evening away from the kids allowed me to try the Ardbeg Ah Oa which was thoroughly enjoyed. If I can find a bottle of that under $70.00 range, I may pick one up.

Cigar Contests

The NFL Pick’em League Contest is up and running, having been announced several weeks ago. There is still time to sign up. It’s free to play and you have the chance to win free cigars.

In addition, I have setup a contest on FanDuel for a season long daily play. I’ll have the full contest rules and instructions up next week but for those who want to join up sooner, hit up the contest link to enter. All laws for gambing and smoking cigars in your state aply, so if your state does not allow the use of online gambling like FanDuel, you shouldn’t enter.

That is all I have for this week. I look forward to sharing my thoughts with everyone again next week.
